Data Source Connector
Section titled “Data Source Connector”Overview
Section titled “Overview”The Data Source Connector is the part of the Widget Builder that connects a widget to governed data. It is where you choose the source table or connected sources that the widget should query.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”The connector reads the current catalog and offers available tables and fields. When a widget needs more than one table, it uses configured relationships or selected join fields. The connector sends resolved schema columns to the rest of the builder so chart, table, and filter panels stay consistent.
Step-by-step
Section titled “Step-by-step”- Open the Widget Builder.
- Choose a primary source.
- Review the available fields.
- Add related sources only when the widget needs them.
- Confirm the join or relationship path.
- Continue to chart, table, metric, or filter settings.
Common mistakes
Section titled “Common mistakes”Do not join sources just to make the field list larger. Add related sources only when the visual question needs them.
Do not select fields by old names from memory. Use the displayed catalog labels and update metadata if the labels are wrong.
