Local Tables
Section titled “Local Tables”Overview
Section titled “Overview”Local tables are existing analytical tables that Rokks can register in the catalog. Use them when data already exists in the warehouse and should be available to dashboards without a file or connector import.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”Registration adds metadata: display name, field labels, types, time columns, units, and constraints. Rokks does not need to own the original loading process, but it needs enough metadata to make the table safe for users.
Step-by-step
Section titled “Step-by-step”- Open Local Tables or the database browser.
- Scan available tables.
- Select the table to register.
- Review fields and choose user-facing names.
- Mark time, key, and measure fields.
- Save registration.
- Select the table in the Widget Builder.
Common mistakes
Section titled “Common mistakes”Do not register a raw staging table as a business source. Register stable, documented tables that users can understand.
Do not skip metadata because the table already exists. Without metadata, users see technical names and Sidekick has less context.
