Tables
Section titled “Tables”Overview
Section titled “Overview”Table widgets show row-level or grouped data when users need exact values, operational lists, or ranked records. Use tables when the question cannot be answered by a single visual mark.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”A table widget selects columns from a governed source and can apply sorting, grouping, formatting, conditional styling, and filters. Tables are built for scrolling through records rather than choosing a fixed page size.
Step-by-step
Section titled “Step-by-step”- Choose a source in the Widget Builder.
- Select the columns users need.
- Put the most important identifier or time column early.
- Configure sorting.
- Add grouping only when it helps scan the data.
- Apply conditional formatting for operational states.
- Preview the table at the intended dashboard size.
Common mistakes
Section titled “Common mistakes”Do not overload a table with every available field. A good table supports a decision; it is not a raw export.
Do not sort time-based operational tables oldest first unless users explicitly need historical order. Recent records are usually more actionable.
