Drilldowns
Section titled “Drilldowns”Overview
Section titled “Overview”Drilldowns let users inspect the records behind a chart, table, or alert without leaving the analytical context. Use them when a summary should answer both “what happened?” and “which records caused it?”.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”A drilldown keeps the selected widget, filter context, and data source in view while showing supporting rows or a more detailed chart. It uses the same governed catalog as the dashboard widget.
Step-by-step
Section titled “Step-by-step”- Open a dashboard widget.
- Click a mark, row, or supported interaction point.
- Review the filtered detail view.
- Adjust the time or dimension context if needed.
- Return to the dashboard when the investigation is complete.
Common mistakes
Section titled “Common mistakes”Do not use drilldowns as a replacement for good dashboard design. The main dashboard should still show the most important signal.
Do not assume a drilldown has different data permissions. It follows the same environment, tenant, and data access context.
